The Gay Family – Vacation Family Photos in Waikiki
What I love most about this family session is how bright and colorful it is. This sweet family took my advice to deck themselves out in traditional Hawaiian Leis, and I LOVE how festive everyone looked! When you come to vacation in Hawaii, nothing screams Aloha like bright colors and leis!
Whats also so special is that my business partner, Sara France, was the wedding photographer for one of the daughters, Kaitlyn. We LOVE keeping up with our past brides and grooms, so this session was very special.
Are you vacationing in Waikiki? Read on for my tips for making the most of your family photos:
In general, I do not recommend scheduling your family photo session in Waikiki. Why? Well, Waikiki is very very crowded. Between parking and beach goers, this can make your session a big headache. Many hotels in Waikiki require a permit to photograph on their properties – ugh, another headache (and cost)! I usually divert my Waikiki family photo sessions to Wai’alea beach, about 20 minutes away. You can click HERE to see a recent session at this beautiful Oahu family photo location… BUT!
I have one exception to my “No Sessions in Waikiki” rule – and thats the gorgeous Hale Koa Hotel.
The Hale Koa has always been very welcoming to me as a photographer. Their grounds are absolutely beautiful! And as you can see, the tropical vibes and golden light just scream WE ARE ON VACATION! This Waikiki Hotel is also a very short walk from the perfect view of Diamond Head.
If you want that PostCard shot of you and your family in front of Diamond Head, this Waikiki family photo location is a must!
