Road trip Around Oahu in Just One Day!

When my husband and I first moved to Hawaii, he surprised me by taking 10 days off of work so we could settle in and play tourist. One of the most well known hotels on Oahu is Turtle Bay. We made some fancy dinner reservations at Roy’s to celebrate our big move.

If you’ve seen Forgetting Sara Marshall you will recognize it as the backdrop for that movie. Turtle Bay is a hot spot for vacationers and for destination weddings!

Because we were new to the island we chose to take the long way and we drove all the way around Oahu to get there.

Adam and I stopped at some gorgeous scenic points and made mental notes for places we wanted to return to for hikes (Adam) and for shoots (Me). Koko Head was beautiful and will definitely go back for that hike.

We also drove by the Kualoa Ranch where some of the most breathtaking weddings on Oahu happen. Imagine getting married in Jurassic Park. Yep, that’s the Kualoa Ranch. A pit stop for some of Oahu’s famous Shave Ice (which if you’re from the mainland is similar to a snow cone) was a must!

I have to say, we had the most delicious dinner of our lives at Roy’s. My favorite date night ever is a long drawn-out (and probably expensive) dinner. I surprised Adam by slipping our waiter my credit card while he was in the bathroom. It all made sense after that why I insisted he get the most expensive thing on the menu: steak and lobster! It was really fun treating him to something fancy.

Oahu is such a beautiful island. You can be looking at the skyline in busy Waikiki one second, and then 20 minutes later driving between epic mountains and feel like you are on another planet. We love our new home so much!
