Wedding planning can get wild, but now it’s time for the honeymoon!
As wedding photographers, we work closely with a lot of wedding coordinators that we adore! One of those is Jessica Upton, who works weddings with our Austin team! We’ve partnered with Jessica, who is also a travel advisor, to help us with your honeymoon planning! She specializes in custom weddings in Austin, Texas, and loves providing her travel expertise with couples for their honeymoons!
With the wild ride of planning a wedding, you likely don’t have the time (or energy!) for making honeymoon plans. Luckily, Jessica with Uptown Events and Travel has written up a timeline to ensure your vacation planning goes smooth and stress-free. BUT! If you don’t want to mess with ANY of the honeymoon plans, make sure to contact Jessica for help on making it the trip of your life!
6-9 MONTHS IN ADVANCE

-Begin working with a professional travel advisor
-Select a destination/s
-consider the weather during the time you plan to travel
-keep in mind how long you have to travel vs. how long it takes to get to the destination
4-6 MONTHS IN ADVANCE

-Book transportation & activities
3 MONTHS IN ADVANCE
-Apply for your passport
-Get necessary visas and vaccinations: https://wwwnc.cdc.gov/travel
-Consider purchasing travel insurance
-Things to remember: hurricane season and health issues can affect your trip!
2 MONTHS IN ADVANCE
-Make reservations at spas, restaurants, or anything additional you want to do while on your honeymoon!
3-4 WEEKS IN ADVANCE
-Review your travel documents
-When working with us this is the time we take care of a couple of things for you! We will request early check ins and late check outs when needed, be provided all the travel vouchers needed, and we’ll provide you with a document to leave behind with family so they will know where you are and when.
WEEK OF YOUR HONEYMOON!
-Pack (consider your airlines luggage restrictions for the ticket category you selected)
-Don’t forget cash for tipping and to get the local currency if needed
-Check the weather
-Check with your cell phone carrier on coverage
-Double check flight times
-Label your luggage
While it’s certainly possible to plan your trip in less time, following this timeline will minimize stress and lead you to a better planned honeymoon vacation!
Thank you so much to our amazing friend Jessica, for writing up something so incredible for you and your partner on your planning journey!
