Yukiko and Akito’s Wedding Portraits
Yukiko and Akito traveled to Oahu all the way from Japan to have their wedding photos taken at Makapu’u Beach Park. I was honored they chose me to be the one to spend the afternoon with them on such a special day. This couple was already legally married in their home country of Japan, however they didn’t wan’t to miss out on the chance to have some beautiful wedding photos in Hawaii while on vacation!
Being an Oahu wedding photographer has shown me there are many ways to have a wedding, and all of them are wonderful!
We photographed the ‘getting ready’ portion at a beautiful hotel in Waikiki. Waikiki is a great place to stay on Oahu if you thrive off busy city energy. And of course, the world famous Waikiki Beach is right there for you to enjoy with your family and friends on your wedding weekend.
Together we took the 40 minute drive from Waikiki to Makapu’u Beach Park (one of my favorite locations!) for Yukiko and Akito’s wedding portraits. I loved photographing them in their formal wedding attire on the beach. Yukiko’s long train looked incredible against the epic backdrop of the mountains. After their photos, this sweet couple gave me a gift of treats from Japan and I felt like one lucky photographer!
Tell me, would you do a destination wedding shoot? My opinion is, why not?! There are only so many things you can fit into your wedding day (especially if you have many guests to keep entertained). Between getting ready at a hotel, heading out to do photos with your wedding party, the ceremony, cocktail hour, more pictures and then your PARTY – there’s no way to fit in a long drive to an epic location like Makapu’u Beach Park.
Post-wedding photo sessions are growing in popularity for this very reason! I am here for it and absolutely adore making my couple’s post-wedding dreams come true!
